Signifying our Sun. Gifting a yellow marble gives thanks to those advancing sustainable energy.
One source, many sources of energy
Nearly all energy is gifted us by the Sun. From sunlight that sparks life in living, and long buried, plants and animals. To photons that knock electrons loose in solar panels. From winds that turn our mills and turbines. To the ocean tides that rise and fall. From the evaporation of water that eventually cycles as rain to be stored and released in hydroelectric systems. To the gravity that pulled our planet together and heated its molten core. It is all borne of the Sun. And it is all conserved.
From one source, many.
Energy conserved, energy shared
Engineers will tell you. All energy is conserved. It cannot be created or destroyed. Therefore, the simple act of passing a marble from one person to another is the act of passing energy from one hand to the next. Pass it on.
A simple near-valueless object can take on great value as a symbol when given with purposeful intention; and sustainability action.

The Yellow Marble Project was created by energy engineer and sustainability consultant Cole Roberts, PE, in 2018, in celebration and gratitude to all those advancing sustainable energy together.It was inspired by the Blue Marble Project, an initiative of marine biologist Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, in celebration of our beautiful, fragile, planet.Cole has gifted many blue marbles and yellow marbles.
